Short Important Checklist
Important Reminder checklist for teachers:
- Be punctual: Check in with Slottsmester at least 5 minutes before the workshop starts. If you check in 15 minutes or later with Slottsmester from the initial booking time (workshop start times), we risk losing the booked room.
- ID Collection: Retrieve your ID from Slottsmester immediately after the workshop (immediately after you are done with the room).
- Clean Up: After using the room, ensure all trash, cups, glasses, belongings, and clothes are cleared away.
- Safety First: If you notice any burnt smells, development of smoke or fires, evacuate everyone immediately. If unsure, contact Slottsmester for guidance. Slottsmester can also assist if someone is causing trouble.
- Underage participants/audience: If anyone wants to bring persons under 18 years to our events, they must clarify directly with sikkerhet@neuf.no in advance.
- Before shows: Invite workshop participants to the shows for free.
- No alcohol: from outside of Chateau Neuf allowed.

Castle Master: Authority, Safety, and Responsibilities
The castle master is the highest authority in the building and is therefore responsible for the best possible protection of the safety of the building's users and guests, including compliance with the drinking rules and the expulsion of people who are drunk or otherwise unbehaved. It is also the castle master who coordinates any evacuation and communication/coordination with the fire department.
Here are some examples of types of incidents where the castle master can assist:
- Obviously intoxicated or drunk people
- Threats, aggression, physical violence or death threats
- Sexual harassment or rape
- Display of weapons, knives or drugs
- Violation of Norwegian law
- Serious health events or life-threatening situations
- Fire
- Guests who refuse to listen to the organizer
During the workshop
- Announcement at the Beginning of the Workshop:
- Listen to the teacher. Don't disrespect or talk at the same time as the teacher.
- Name and voluntary pronoun round (anyone can opt out of saying their pronouns).
- Anyone can come to the teacher(s) anytime for a talk. Also, anyone can report anything they experience/are unsure about to the notification committee and give feedback: https://improneuf.com
- Everyone participating must register. Recommend registering in advance to save time. Participants may also register during the break. Registration is done here: https://improneuf.com
- Code of Conduct:
- Keep the content appropriate for 13-year-olds.
- Respect physical/psychological boundaries:
- Don’t touch without explicit consent.
- Avoid bikini areas.
- Punch up, not down. Avoid:
- Racism.
- Discrimination.
- Sexism.
- Transphobia.
- Play at the top of your intelligence.
- Breaching the code of conduct will lead to consequences.
- Serious and repeat breaches may lead to expulsion from all Impro Neuf events.
- Mention that any scene can be stopped or left at any time if anyone is uncomfortable.
- Handling Breaches During Class/Workshops:
- If something arises in/outside a scene that makes participants uncomfortable, stop the scene and ask for something else without placing too much shame on the person. Take the blame on yourself for not setting clearer boundaries.
- A “time out” in the moment is the best option. Say “stop” before addressing someone who wasn’t listening/didn’t hear when boundaries were stated.
- If the situation is nuanced, share a brief reminder: “ask before you touch them!” No scene or show is too precious to interrupt and course correct.
- If the incident spiked the cortisol of everyone in the room, you might have to say: “Hey ____. I noticed you did X, and as a reminder, we don’t do that in this space.”
- Consider:
- Is it a repeated pattern of behavior?
- Is it the first time someone has been corrected about this?
- Is the person apologetic and seems to take the note and change?
- Use a tone that doesn’t shame. Take it seriously, then go back to the fun rather than making a joke about what happened.
