Improvisational theatre, or improv, is unscripted and spontaneous—an art form where every scene is created in the moment. It’s a blend of fun, creativity, and teamwork that often leads to laughter without even trying!

This open-level workshop focuses on Improv Fundamentals. Whether you're a beginner or want to revisit the basics, this session is perfect for everyone. The instructor will guide you through the essential building blocks of improv, helping you gain confidence, improve spontaneity, and unleash your creativity.
 

✨ Workshop Focus

Starting a scene can feel daunting, but it doesn’t have to be! In this workshop, Liv and Nikki will guide you through simple, playful exercises to help you dive into new scenes with confidence and creativity. Learn how to embrace the unknown and let your imagination take the lead.

The focus is on creating a fun, supportive environment where everyone can participate and enjoy. Whether you're completely new to improv or just want to try something different, this is the perfect place to start! 

No prior experience needed—just bring your curiosity and a sense of fun!

 About the instructors:

Liv Grøthe

Liv is a dynamic and passionate improviser who has made her mark on the Oslo improv scene. As a founding member of Egg Squish It! and one-half of Livikki, she is known for her intensity, quick thinking, and thoughtful approach to storytelling, delivering performances that are both bold and captivating.

Liv served as PR Manager on the Impro Neuf board in 2024 and has coordinated workshops for over two years. Now, as the newly elected Leader and Artistic Director for 2025, she aims to elevate show quality, expand creative projects, and increase volunteer involvement to keep Impro Neuf an energized, inclusive, and sustainable community.

Liv holds a Master’s degree in History from the University of Oslo, specializing in polar history and the history of science. Her diverse academic and creative experiences inform her thoughtful approach to leadership and community-building.

Nikki Michelle Soo

Nikki has been an active member of the Impro Neuf community, contributing both on stage and behind the scenes. She co-founded Goal Diggers, an all-female improv team, and Livikki, a dynamic duo known for their bold and fearless approach to longform improv. As Training Coordinator for Impro Neuf from 2019 to 2021, Nikki played a key role in coordinating public workshops, developing talent among trainers, and implementing Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging policies.

Outside of improv, Nikki has broad experience in leadership and people development, including roles in organizing training events, facilitating courses on psychological safety, and developing digital learning programs.

Nikki is also the author of “It’s Supposed To Be Fun: How To Get Things Done Without Being Hard On Yourself.”

Liv and Nikki are the founding members of the daring Oslo improv duo Livikki. It was formed during a duo-lab workshop in spring 2024, where Liv and Nikki were paired together and quickly discovered their shared love for bold and fearless improvisation. Less than 24 hours later, they performed their first show, captivating audiences with their dynamic chemistry and daring storytelling.

The duo specializes in exploring one story that can go anywhere, introducing audiences to unpredictable characters and thrilling twists. With their fearless approach and knack for creative challenges, Livikki delivers 20 minutes of bold, nail-biting excitement in every performance.

💡 About Open Improv Workshops


Impro Neuf’s Open Improv Workshops are fully drop-in sessions, offering a fun and beginner-friendly introduction to the world of improvisational theatre. No prior experience is needed—just show up and jump in!

Each workshop is led by a different facilitator, bringing their own unique style and perspective to the session. Over the course of the semester, these workshops are designed to cover a variety of improv fundamentals, providing opportunities to explore different aspects of the art form.

While attending multiple workshops will give you a well-rounded understanding of improv, every session is stand-alone and does not build on previous ones. This makes it perfect for newcomers to join at any time, while regulars can enjoy fresh exercises and insights every week.

Whether you’re here to try something new, meet people, or deepen your skills, there’s always something exciting waiting for you at Impro Neuf’s Open Workshops!
