This open-level workshop focuses on Improv Fundamentals. Whether you're a beginner or want to revisit the basics, this session is perfect for everyone. The instructor will guide you through the essential building blocks of improv, helping you gain confidence, improve spontaneity, and unleash your creativity.

About the facilitators

👨 Magnus Seines is a sharp, quick-witted performer known for his playful presence on stage. He has been an integral part of Oslo’s improv scene for years and served on the board of Impro Neuf for two consecutive terms. In 2021, he was a general board member, and in 2022, he became Leader and Artistic Director, guiding the community through the return to regular live shows at Chateau Neuf after the pandemic. His leadership helped ensure that shows, workshops, and community events continued to thrive during a challenging time.

💻 Outside of improv, Magnus works as a software developer and enjoys 🐉 Dungeons & Dragons, where he channels his love for collaborative storytelling into building characters and creating worlds.

👩 Mari Olimstad is a light-hearted and charming improviser who brings warmth and humor to every performance. She has become a cherished part of the Oslo improv community, known for her playful energy.

📢 Mari served as PR Manager on the Impro Neuf board in 2022, working alongside Magnus. Her role was essential in promoting the community and bringing in new members after the pandemic. Her efforts ensured that Impro Neuf remained visible and welcoming, helping the organization grow back to its pre-pandemic glory.

🏙️ Outside of improv, Mari works as an urban planner and holds a Master’s degree in Human Geography.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Far og Resten av Familien

Far og resten av familien performs energetic short-form improv, delivering playful, game-based shows that feel like chaotic family reunions. The team has also performed internationally, bringing their quirky humor to various stages.

🥚 Egg Squish It!

Egg Squish It! specializes in long-form storytelling with their unique “hometown show” format. They interview an audience member about their hometown and use that as inspiration for a fully improvised performance. The team focuses on grounded stories, playful spontaneity, and has recently been experimenting with the Nordic Noir genre.

💡 About Open Improv Workshops

Impro Neuf’s Open Improv Workshops are fully drop-in sessions, offering a fun and beginner-friendly introduction to the world of improvisational theatre. No prior experience is needed—just show up and jump in!

Each workshop is led by a different facilitator, bringing their own unique style and perspective to the session. Over the course of the semester, these workshops are designed to cover a variety of improv fundamentals, providing opportunities to explore different aspects of the art form.

While attending multiple workshops will give you a well-rounded understanding of improv, every session is stand-alone and does not build on previous ones. This makes it perfect for newcomers to join at any time, while regulars can enjoy fresh exercises and insights every week.
