Announcing Maro Lesioti, an up and coming star in the improv world from Greece! She will be conducting an Epic Journey advanced workshop in Oslo! We will journey beyond the ordinary using Homer's Odyssey (and probably some monsters) to rediscover embodiment and humor! Epic storytelling will meet comedy and performers will create worlds that are larger than life and hilariously human!
✨ Workshop Focus:
This workshop invites advanced improvisers to dive into one of the most imaginative journeys in literary history. Homer's Odyssey brims with mythical creatures, divine mishaps, and absurdly human struggles—an epic that shaped not only how we tell stories of adventure but also how we find humor in human folly. In this workshop, participants will explore how the structure, themes, and poetic rhythms of The Odyssey can inspire improvisers to build expansive worlds that balance the heroic with the ridiculous. By examining how the poem dances between the profound and the playful, performers will learn to craft narratives that swing from the epic to the comedic, embodying characters of exaggerated scale and emotion while finding wit and truth in their imperfections. Through physicality, voice, and ensemble dynamics, improvisers will gain tools to create stories that move freely between myth and comedy—transforming the grand into the absurd and the absurd into something deeply human.
