Two funeral agents arrive to collect a body. It should be a simple job: identify the deceased, prepare the body and take it away.
But these particular agents believe that nobody should leave this world without a proper goodbye.
Before they can complete their work, they need to discover who this person was.
Three audience members are invited to become people from the deceased's past. One by one, they enter scenes from a lived life and add color: perhaps as a childhood friend, a colleague, a lover, a rival or someone whose significance only becomes clear as the story unfolds.
By the end, strangers have created the fragments of an entire life.
Underground Funeral Service is a improvised show about memory, connection and the strange task of trying to give meaning to a life after it has ended.
